The Council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, in its annual report, says it hae to record, with regret, that no progress has been made towards the acquisition of the Wellington-Manawatu line on behalf of the colony: neither has aaything further been heard respecting the proposed straightening of the line to the Hutt, nor of the deviation at the Rimutaka section, all of which are improvements calculated to be of advantage to the district and the colony.
