SOLICITOR SHOT IX HIS OFFICE. SYDNEY, April 12. Walter Lindsay Thompson, a prominent city solicitor, was found shot in bis office. The fatality is .j-ppesed to be accidental. His Jife was insured for £25- ---! 000, including f IOQO in the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company. A large i portion of the total was arranged for j within the past year, and £7000 since ! January last. The coroner's inquest was I opened and postponed at the request of the insurance companies interested, pending a post-mortem examination. EDUCATION CONFERENCE. SYDNEY, April 12. The Education Conference adopted recommendations in favour of the estabI lishment of a kindergarten college, and the Sloyd system of manual training- in schools.
