The first day of the Tarauaki Jockey t Club's snrnmpr meeting was spoiled, so ' far as the attendance was concerned, by heavy rain, which continued nearly all Cay. The mclug was good throughout, considering the weather, and some close finishes were witnessed. The totalisator receipts were £3511. against £4714 for the first day last year.
