WAIHI SCHOOL OF MINES ELECTION.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. The following is the result of the School of Mines election: Patron, Mr Herrfes, M.H.R.; president, Mr T. Gilmour: vlcepredideuts. Messrs W. H. Johnaton and J. R. Williams: hon. treasurer, Mr E. Banks; council, Messrs Morgan, Johns, Kenric-k, Beng , !'. GiLmour, Saunders; students' representatives, Messrs Morrison, Stewart. Mr Bentre, in a congratulatory speech, moved a vote of thanks to the director and stuff, lie said he considered the results of the school work second to none in the colony. Me.-rs Hazard and Morgan renewed their offer of special prizes. Mr Wotherapoon informed a meeting of students thiit the Inspector had granted a permit to manage the coal claim outside Coromandel. and said if such practices were allowed there was no cnoourafrement to anyone to study iit the School of Mines, and before long students would not attend. Tic meeting couskleiVd the matter of grave Importance, and referred it to the Borough Council.
