Blotches of gold were freely seen in the quartz broken out, and 101b of picked stone were secured. The mine will be closed for the holidays, and operations are to be resumed on the first Monday in the New Year.

Waiai Extended.—The drive has been advanced 18 feet during the past week. The country rock, which contains mineral seams, looks of a good description. Heads, or soft seams, ara occasionally met with crossing the face at an angle. When such are touched it would look as if something of importance was coming in, especially where thoro are gritty quartz in them.

May Queen Extended.—The rise on the reef oas-t has been extended six feet during the week, and the quartz broken down, and a few strong colours of gold were seen in the stone. In No. S stope east the reef is about 10 inches in width, and showed strong colours of gold. The reef in the stope west is a strong body of stone IS inches in thickness, and carries promising mineral indications.
