The statutory meeting of shareholders in the New Chelmsford was --ailed at three o'clock this alternoon in Mr A. H. White's office. The statement of accounts showed receipts £44S 0/10, and the expenditure left a credit, balance of £16 17/4. The liabilities showed an overdraft of £220, and the assets, besides mine and plant, about £ 1250, to be called up. lIAURAKI FREEHOLDS. The annual meeting of shareholders in the Hauraki Freeholds G.M. Co. was convened this afternoon at the office, Wyndham-street, when Mr S. T. George, M-L.C-, presided. The statement of accounts showed receipts £3092 IS/, of which £1143 5/ was balance brought forward, and £1949 13/ from bullion. The expenditure left a credit balance of £2054 11/9, the expenditure on wages during the six months being £615 5/4. The directors' report gave details of the past half-year's operations. The report also emphasised the necessity for paying- attention to the ncn-thern portion of the property by working from the Welcome Find shaft, as they considered it was a splendid property only partially explored.

The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, said he must congratulate them upon the result of che first year's operations. Six months ajro they had a credit balance of £ 1143 5/, but now it was £2054 11/9, with a crushing in hand that should yield about another £1000. They would thus start the new year with a credit of £3500. The time had arrived when they must resume wortc from the Welcome Find shaft. He considered the company had bright prospects before it. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr. T. H. Keesing was reelected director, and Mr. E. Waymoutli auditor.
