FATAL ACCIDENTS

A MAN TCTT.T.-Rn. (15j Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTTff, Monday. Mr. J. Harkins, a well-known resident, was killed by a fail from a tree, near the racecourse, this' afternoon. The deceased was engaged with a gang erecting a telephone at the time of the accident, and was in a willow tree, about "Oft from the ground,, lopping branches to make a clear way for the line. Members of gang, working some distance away, heard a sudden crack and as they could not sec the deceased in the tree they went to the scene, and Mr. Harkins wm found on the ground with his neck broken and a broken bough alongside. Death had been instantaneous. A CHILD DROWNED.
