FEDERAL PARLIAMENT.

MELBOURNE, this day. A motion in the Senate in favour of a referendum on the riscal question being taken at the next Senatorial election wa.s negatived by 10 votes to 5. The proposal for a joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Senate to deal with the site for the Federal capital was carried in the House and the resolution sent on to the Senate.
