GOOD READING IN HANSARD.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —This season's Hansards are much more interesting to the reader than they have been for many years. As a rule, the representatives from our Auckland are spouting Al. Grey Lynn comee out strongly, but then he is an old pulpiteer or platformist. Manawatu is a new-chum member, and when his speech was finished Grey Lynn oomplimented him highly on his maiden speech, and said that it would have been appropriate if he had finished by "announcing a hymn," no doubt the Rotorua hymn would have been very appropriate for the occasion, "Praise Dick, from whom all blessings flow." Grey Lynn says that he would be prepared to sacrifice everything he possesses —life itself —for the maintenance of the Empire, but to me the veracity of that statement is highly doubtful, for if he were in his political coffin to-morrow, and anyone to whisper "Single Tax," he would become electrified and spring up like a giant refreshed. It is highly amusing to read of some honourable member in the midst of a brilliant peroration, when their eloquence is snuffed out like a farthing, candle by the magic woods from Mr Speaker—"Time is up." —I am, etc,
AMICUS.
