The iirst concert of St. Thomas' Church Club was held on Monday evening before a packed house. Miss K. Davis opened the programme with a very pleasing selection. Miss A. Woods and Miss M. Woods and Messrs H. Aspden, (J. Dod, C. Newman, J. McKenna, R. Johnson and Mr Woods all contributed items which gained for them well-earned applause. Mrs Wakejield and Miss A. Bruce accompanied the singers, and also played two pianoforte duets in a very creditable manner. The programme was concluded with a dialogue entitled "The Bobbies' Courtship." The parts were taken by members of the club—Misses Pock, Woods, Clark, Holmes, Davis and Robinson, and Messrs R., H. and G. Johnson and Mr A. Collins. From the moment the curtain was raised the house was kept in continual laughter, the performers acting their parts in a very creditable manner. The whole production was under the management of Mr R. Johnson and Mr A. Collins, to whom great credit is due. The Tilikum had a record attendance in Wellesley-street yesterday. Captain Voss and Mr Buckridge lecture both this afternoon and evening, the sea anchor being specially explained. From the number of entries that are being received, and the interest evinced by all the Auckland clubs, the forthcoming table tennis tournament, to be held on Saturday, August let. at the Choral Hall, promisee to be a big success.
