RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
ENGINE AND SIX WAGGONS
DERAILED.
A FIREMAN KILLED.

MASTERTON, Sunday.
A goods train of 20 waggons, leaving Masterton at twenty-five minutes to nine on Saturday evening, ran into a horse at the eemeteiy crossing, near Featherston. The engine and six waggons were derailed. The Westinghousc brake brought the train to a standstill. The driver, Heard, was stunned and badly shaken. Fireman Harry Fee was pinned down; the gauge-glass burst, and he was seriously scalded l>v escaping steam. Both men were brought to Masterton by special train about three o'clock this morning. Fee, who is dn- ( married, wss brought to Masterton Hospital, whore he died at eleven o'clock to-day. Heard is confined to his bed, but is not seriously hurt. The guard, Towers, was uninjured. The line was cleared to-day.
