MATCH AGAINST CANTERBURY

The cricket match Englishmen versus Canterbury was continued at 11 o'clock. Lord .Hawke's team, having seven runs for no wickets to their credit, resumed their second innings. Warner and Btirnup played free cricket, until 37 wa.s up, when Burnup was caught at mid-on by Strange off Frank ish, for 12. Bosanquet followed, but at 53 was clean bowled by Prankish for nothing. Dowsou went in iiext, but at OS lost his partner, Warner, who was leg before wicket to Frankish for a freely-bit 52. Fane followed, and the run-getting slackened. At noon the Englishmen had scored 80 for three wickets.
At 120 Frankish caught and howled Fane for 20. Taylor tilled the breach, but when six were added Dowsou was caught by T. Reese off Callaway for 36. Thompson joined Taylor, and the latter was badly missed by Lawrence in the long field off Frankish. At 1.35 Taylor was caught by Frankish in the slips off Callaway—l3o—6 —8. Five runs later Frankish bowled Thompson for seven. Stanning and Johnson then got together and stayed in until lunch, the score At 1.20 Frankish caught and bowled 14; Johnson, not out, 6; byes, 4).
