NORTH SHORE ROWING CLUB.

Cheltenham Beach was eu fete on Saturday afternoon, when the North Shore Rowing Club held an "At Home." The fine weather prevailing brought out a good number of spectators, auu the several rowlug events proved exciting finishes. Ihe Hungarian joaud lent pleasure to the iuteruoou by discoursing popular airs. Ihe trophies were gold rings, presented by Mr R. Logan, jun. The captain, Mr VV. Swiuuertou, assisted by a strong committee, worked hard to ensure success. Mr G. M. Reid made a capital judge, and had to decide some close finishes. The 'following ladles kindly assisted and dispensed afternoon tea: Mesdames Swinnertou, McLean, Duder, Misses Duder (2), Bayly, Corbett, Peacocke, Taylor, Macindoe, Smith, Helander, Craigmile and Lyons. Results of events:—First heat: Crews stroked by J. Sullivan and P. Burgess. After a close race Burgess' crew won by a length. Second heat: Crews—B. Bayly, F. P. Burgess, and J. Gevrard. This was au exciting race, Gerrard's crew winning by a length, lhiru heat: Crews—W. Strlck, P. Bayly, W. Logau. This proved a close finish, P. Bayy s 'crew winning by half a length. *}I. n*i: Three crews—J. Gerrard, P. Bayly, and/. Burgess. All got away together, aud after an exciting struggle Gerrard's crew eventually won by half a length. Winning crew: J Gerrard. B. Yeolaud. O. Yeoland, A. M. Orpwood, L. Spinley (cox). Cheers were exchanged between the crews: cheers were also given for the judge, the ladies, and tor K. ,L,ogau, which brought a very pleasant day to a close.
