RAILWAY FATALITY.

PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. A shocking fatality occurred at the railway station „this morning, Alexander Buchan, head storeman, being run over by a shunting train. Death was almost instantaneous. The accident occurred while the deceased was passing between the carriages, which were in motion. His right leg- was severed at the knee, and practically at the hip. and the left leg was also practically severed ait the hip. The deceased' expired before he wa-s extricated from the wheels. He joined the railway service in 1879 at Wanganui, and was aged 50. He leaves a wife and daughter.
