SEEING BY TELEPHONE.
A new discovery has been submitted to the French Academy of Sciences relating to the possibility of seeing the reflection of persons to whom one is talking - through the telephone. It is not possible, says the secretary of the academy, to pronounce upon the real value of the discovery at this early stage; but it has been submitted to the examination of a technical committee. The information publicly given on the subject is that a fresh contribution on the solution of the problem of vision through obstacles has been snbmitted to the academy by an inventor whose name wonld only be made known after the report of the committee on the practicability of the invention. The inventor proposes to solve the problem by means of electricity, and suggests the utilisation of the knowr electrical response of *«l«itnjn to the action of light.
