An outbreak of anthrax has occurred at Woodlands. Two cows have died and- two are recovering; '"' ,
Mr Gilruth ,has expressed the opinion that-the disease is due to Calcutta bones used as fertiliser. This is the first time the dreaded disease has appeared in the South Island. It is feared: that if sheep are placed on turnips the mortality -will be heavy.
