FOUND DROWNED.
MARTON, this day
Tames Kyle was found drowned, in Tutaenui stream at Martbn this morning. It is supposed he fell while crossing- a small bridge. He has relations at Timaru.
The following is Captain Edwin's weather forecast for twenty-four hours from 9 a.m. to-day:—"Gale from between north-east and nortn and west; glass fall; expect much rain."
Serjeant Forbes, of the local police force, will shortly retire under the terms of. the Police Provident, Fund. Constable L. Carroll, of Eden Terrace, has been promoted to the rank of ser-α-eant, to fill the vacancy, and will b<s attached to the" city force. Sergeant Effan will probably be removed Reefton shortly, and Constable .Stephens, Of Waihi, has been transferred to Pahiatua, his place being filled by a constable from the Auckland forces.
