AUCKLAND V. GORDON.
Gordon batied first and lost King and Kallender ior 30 runs. Mason then joined Ball, and the pair put on S7, of which Mason's share was tiii. His innings was marred by a chance and a couple of faulty strokes, but it was nevertheless a tine bit of aggressive crdeket, and included a good number o£ boundaries. Fish then joined Ball, and the score was taken well up to the second century, when Fish retired. Pabst and Ball then played out time, the score Delng taicen tt> 232 for four wickets. Ball, who was not out with 97 to his credit, played really fine sound cricket, and did not give a chance. He was particularly severe on the off.
