THIRD SERIES OF CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES. FINE SCORING BY GORDON. Fine weather and fast wickets prevailed on Saturday a-fternopn, when the third aeries of the championship matches were .'ommenced. Scoring was generally good, and in both of the senior matches the second centuT-y was passed. Gordon gave a fine exhibition of batting, ana it six o'clock had 252 runs on the board for the ioss of only four wickets. T. £>. Ball played a fine Innings lor b7 not out. Parnell kept United in the field all the afternoon, and put up 210. PARNELL V. UNITED. Pare ell elected to bat. L.usk, Elliott and Gavin were dismissed fairly early, but Ohlson and Woods gave a lot of trouble, and put on ±i good many run.? ; ocfore the partnership was broken.
