MUSGROVE COMIC OPERA SEASON.

"A CHINESE HONEYMOON."

A rare musical treat may be anticipated in the forthcoming visit of Mr George Musgrove's new Comic Opera Company, who are announced to open at the Opera House on Monday, October 6th, in the enormously successful comic opera, "A Chinese Honeymoon," a play that has already reached most lengthy runs in both England and America, and bids fair to eclipse all previous records in the Australasian colonies. Amongst the many sterling English operatic artists that will be introduced to the Auckland pubuc, and who have already won for themselves quite a reputation in the other colonies, are the names of Messrs Edward Lauri, J. C Piddock, Foster Courtenay, W. R. Shirley, Henry Haslam, Misses May Beatty, Josephine Stanton, Cissie Neil, Bessie White, etc., etc, who will be supported by Mr Geo. Musgrove's grand opera chorus of 60 voices, so that a most excellent rendering of the play may be assured. The comments of the Australian press on Miss Beatty's performance are most eulogistic, and she is Baid to share the honours of the piece with Mr l^dward Lauri, whose quaint and original humour is spoken of in warmest terms. The "Chinese Honeymoon" will be staged with all the gorgeousness that made the production so notable during its season in Melbourne and Sydney. Botn the scenery and dresses are said to be magnificent. The season will be limited to seven nights and two matinees only, consequently "A Chinese Honeymoon" can only be staged for tour nights and a matinee. On Friday, October 10, therefore, the new successful opera "Thirty Thieves" will conclude the remaining nights of the season. The box plan for the first performance only will open at Wildman's on Wednesday next, at 10 am., and on the following day the plans for the entire season will be on view to the public.
