A BARQUENTINE DISMASTED.

(By Cable. — Press Association.— (Copyright.)

SYDNEY, May 12.

The dismasted vessel sighted off South Solitary Island proves to be the barquentine Elverland, 361 tons, coal-laden, which left Newcastle on April 26 for Lyttelton. The steamer Chillagoe took the Elverland in tow off Smoky Cape this afternoon, coming south. It is supposed the barquentine came to grief in the late gales. vShe is owned by Holdship and Co., of Sydney.
