Tributers in the Kapanga mine, Coromandel, crushed 70 tons from the old tip for a return of £G0 15/10. HAUEAKI NO. 2. Work has been resumed in the mine. The manager expects to get the junction of the leaders in a few feet of driving. PKOGEESS-CASTLE ROCK. An intermediate level has been started en Reynolds' reef. The lode looks well, and 10*i«s of picked stone were selected when breaking down. KOMATA BONANZA. Mr David Loughlin, of the Thames, has been appointed mine manager of the Koinata Bonanza. Mining operations are to be commenced at once by putting in a drive to cross-cut'the outcrop. This drive will be known as No. 1 level, and will give,between 70 and SO feet of backs, and the reef should be met with at 150 feet of driving. KAURI FREEHOLD. The return from the Kauri Freehold Gold Estates for the four weeks ending AprU 30th was £1203 12/5. The ore crusted was 1111 tons, added to which 10C0 tons of slimes and 275 tons of sanls were\ treated. Amalgamation yielded £352 4/11, and cyanide £S2l*7/-.», making the total of £1203 12/5. At No. 3 level the reef is nowgiving better prospects, i MAY QUEEN EXTENDED. Breaking down the reef west in the May Queen Extended mine |ook place in the early part of the week, and stripping was resumed. The reef now averages about 2 feet in thickness of solid quartz of a most kindly description for carrying gold. When breaking down, a few colours of gold were seen, also mineral of a g-ood description. The country is interlaced with mineral veins which are striking into the reef. In the east drive the reef averages 20 inches in thickness of good looking quartz for gold, a little antimony being seen. The crosscut has been extended five feet in firm country.
