CABLE CHARGES.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, this day

The Commonwealth Post Office has advised the New Zealand Government that it has definitely decided not to apply uniform Australian terminal rates to messages between New Zealand and Australia sent via the Eastern Extension Company's cable. This means that s.H intercolonial cables sent from the colony via the Eastern Company's cable must pay a tericinal charge in Australia of a penny j)er word per state as formerly. The Acting-Premier has expressed to the Federal Government his regret at the decision, but states that the New Zealand terminal charge of a half-penny will be maintained.
