ANTONIA DOLORES
Mdlle. Dolores (Trebelli) will give a_ short season of sdng recitals in the Choral Hafi, commencing on Friday evening- next. The diva has been singing with all her accustomed charm in Dunedin and Christchurch and Wellington, the critiques of her recitals beingl—as could only be expected— unanimous in praise of her remarkable vocal ■ and artistic gifts. In Christchurch Mdlle. Dolores gave six recitals, all of which were attended by splendid audiences. The versatility of the singer was displayed to a marked degree, for during the season she sang something like ninety different songs. Five recitals were given in Dunedin, and the success achieved in that city was marked. During the present week Mdlle. Dolores and Mr John Prouse sang with the Christchurch Musical Union in "The Creation" and ''The Messiah." Artistically, the performance was most successful. Mdlle. Dolores' Aucklandseason will be limited to three concerts only, as her Australian engagements necessitate her leaving Auckland immediately after her season. Mr Clarance Neweli, an American pianist, will make his first appearance 'in Auckland at these concerts. Tbe management announce that the box plan for the first recital will be opened at Wildman and Lyeil's on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock.
