DEATH OF A MILITARY VETERAN.

PATEA, this day
Major Turner, a very old resident, died yesterday, aged eighty. He joined the 85tb Regiment when a young man and took part in '.he Maori war. He was wounded at the Maboetahi fight, in Taranaki. Afterwards he was an officer of the Armed Constabulary, and was magistrate at Patea.
