ROAD BOARD MEETINGS

MANGERE.

The annual meeting of ratepayers of the Mangere Road District was held at the Board's office on Wednesday last, Mr M. Kirkbride presiding. The annual report stated that during the year £447 18/8 had been expended on roads and bridges. There was a credit balance in the bank at the end of the financial year of £394 3/9. The Board was of opinion that this money should be utilised in blue-metal-ling those portions of the road that were furthest from the quarries. The idea of erecting a stone-breaker had been abandoned. Tenders for breaking 2000 yards were called for.but met with no response. £15 8/ had been expended on the Mangere Bridge. It had been found, necessary to take proceedings against persons driving over the bridere at other than a walking pace, a practice calculated tc seriously damage the structure. A sum of £48, collected two years aero in this district in aid of tbe War fund, was lying in the bank, and the Board suggested a meeting of the subscribers to decide how to depose of it.
