Amongst the passengers leaving bjj the steamer Elingamite for Sydney on Tuesday is Mr J. C. Buchanan, of the firm of Messrs Sargood, Son and Ewen, and who is visiting South Africa and England on a six months' holiday. Mr Buchanan has been connected with the firm for some considerable time, and one night this wee»k the whole staff assembled in the warehouse to make him a presentation. Mr Finlayson, one of the partners, spoke eulogistically of Mr Buchanan, and presented him with a beautiful gold watch, suitably inscribed, and to which all the employees had subscribed.
