The weather was cool, but more genial, when play was resumed in the match Australia v. Notts. The attendance was four thousand. The I wicket was faster than on the first day. Duff and TJrumper opened the first innings of the Australians, with 287 to make to equal the performance of their opponents. The former played with confidence, and Trumper was brilliant all-round till Hallam secured him with an "off" break. One wicket for 75. His score included .seven fourers. Hill, who followed, had compiled 14, when Goodacre caught him easily at third man. Two for 104. Gregory came next, but a few runs later Duff skied one to Wass at midon. Three wickets for 116. Duff played an excellent, chanceless innings. . Darling's arrival saw Gregory's dismissal, through an easy catch by Goodacre in slip. Four wickets for 123Darling, with half a dozen to his credit, was missed at the wickets. Noble -partnered him. After pacing Darling's total, Noble 'gave I Shrewsbury an opportunity off a hard cut at point, which was accept. cd. Five wickets for 137. After lunch the partnership of Darling and Armstrong added runs freely, till the Victorian was bowled off his pads. Six wickets for 175. Hopkins followed.
