The following applications were dealt with: — J. J. Maeky, Harp of Tara Special Quartz Claim, Ohui, granted; J. J. Macky, Manaia Special Quartz Claim, Ohui, granted; William Armstrong, Southern Cross Quartz Claim, Ohui, adjourned in order that a survey be made; Eichd. Potter, residence site, Tairua, adjourned for a month; Fame and Fortune Mine, Limited, 6 months' protection for Fame and Fortune Special Quartz Claim, Thames, granted; J. W. Hurst, 6 months' protection for the Shamrock, Otanui, Consols Special Quartz Claim, Otanui, referred to Minister for Mines; New Whau Company, application for protection; Mr W. McCullough appeared in support of application, which was referred to Minister for Mines; May Queen Extended Gold Mining Company, permission to work with 2 men for six months; it was stated a misunderstanding (existed, because since the application had been made the Company had come on gold, arid were employing eight men; the application was therefore adjourned; Alexander Whitley, 6 months' protection for the isew Discovery Special Quartz Claim, Thames, granted; Taniwha G.M. Company, extension of time by 12 months for erection of water-race at Tairua, granted.
