SMELTING COMPANY'S REPRESENTATIVE.
The regular forwarding of shipments' of concentrates to; the Smelting Company's works at Dapto, New Sou-Ca Wales, has resulted in a representative being sent over to visit the Ij^ttraki Gioldflelds. On Saturday he visited the Thames School' of Mines and then jwejvt on to. Waiomo to inspect the Monowai mine. Some time ago enquiries were' made Irom Sydney as tib the probable supply of-ga-lena ore obtainable in this district. ■ MAY QUEEN. The prospects in the May Queen mine are reported upon by recent visitors as very encouraging. Morrin's/ reef is' a distinctly new one, and is not thef reef the manager was namely, the Oddfellows, which cannot be far away, for water is coming through the country rock. This locality has yielded large quantities of gold, and no doubt the Adelaide reef will be again picked up, and may be as rich south of the , break as it was on the. north side.
