MODEL VILLAGES.

INSTRUCTION FOR THE MAORIS

WELLINGTON, this day

The Government has decided to establish a village at Corinth, on the Wiinganui lUver, where educated young Maoris of botft sexes will live in European style and receive technical- instruction. Married Maoris who have passed through the schools will hv. invited to reside in the village, and the students will live Avith tlu'in.

The Government will provide froe instruction. Students will be required to keep themselves, but they will be allowed to grow fruit, etc.,

for their own profit in the leisure time. The village will be managed by a council of adult Maori residents, under ruie,s to be drawn up by the Ciovernment.

If the scheme is n success similar villages will be established in other parts of the colony.
