THE WAIKARE.

The s.s. Waikare arrived from Sydney at 7 p.m. yesterday, and berthed at the Queen-street Wharf, this morning. She brought 110 passengers in both classes and also a large cargo. The steamer has made a very fast trip, and had it not been that strong head winds and heavy seas prevailed during the latter part of the voyage. She would have arrived much earlier. Mr F. L. Wilson, the purser, reports: The Waikare left the company's wharf, Margaretstreet, at 1.40 p.m. and cleared the Heads at 2,25 p.m. on the 16th instant; had the Three Kings abeam at midnight on the 19th, Cape Maria Van Diemen light abeam at 2.20 a.m., and North Cape 4.20 a.m., yesterday, arriving at 6.55 p.m. Fine weather and light winds were experienced for the first two days, and thence to Cape Maria Van Diemen fresh breeze with beam sea; fine weather with light winds from Cape Maria to arrival.
