PAEKOA,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
PAEROA, this day.
A start wa:# made with football in Paeroa on Saturday afternoon.when a scratch match, Maoris-v. Europeans, was played, and was won by the latter by 6 points to 3. During* the game a player had his collar bone broken. The annual meeting of the Paeroa Football Club was held last Thursday evening, when a proposal was made to form a Paeroa union as a means of encouraging football, which was last season in a very moribund condition. After discussion the' meeting adjourned for a fortnight to obtain further information. The opening of the new Drill Hall next Thursday promises to be a most successful function. The ceremony takes place at 3 p.m., and a large number of volunteers and the general public are expected to attend. The Garrison Band will bo present. *-.
