PORT ALBERT SHOW.

The thirty-third annual show of the Port Albert Agricultural and Horticultural Society was held on Thursday. The weather was fine. A large number of visitors from the surrounding districts were, present. The exhibits of horses and cattle were very good, fruit good, but the exhibits of field and garden*produce much inferior to many previous shows. The Society undertook the catering for the public; the lunch and tea provided was good, and was under the management of Messrs Sidney Gubb and G. Underwood. The principal prize-takers were Messrs Gubb Bros., Becroft Bros., Neal, Keid, N. A. Walker, and Thompson. The secretary (G. T. Hartnell) and the stewards did their work well.

The evening meeting in the public hall •was a large and enjoyable one, and wa3 presided over by the member for Waitemata (R. Monk, M.H.R.). m a brief but stirring speech he advocated the claims of the farmers and advised forming strong farmers' unions. The programme tor the evening was good and, wisely, not too long. The singing of Miss Duddin* W F alr a cf r? atl and the Pianoforte playinf of Mr Sidney Gubb, the newly-appointed organist of Devonport Church, was hi-nly appreciated. Mr G. Nicholson again did good service, as on many previous occasions. The judges werer-Live stock, Messrs Lendrum (Auckland), T. C Sainsl bury (Kaipara Plats). Fruit, D Hay (Auckland).
