BUSH FIRES ON WEST COAST.
SERIOUS DAMAGE. . (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
HOKITIKA, this day
The weather has been unusually dry and hot. Bush flres are doing considerable damage. One sawmill and several huts have been destroyed, and other buildings injured. Large areas of timber were destroyed, including some fine belts of silver pine in the Kawhaka district. There is no sign of rain, and the injury to crops is serious for pastoralists.
