THE TIMBER-WORKERS' DISPUTE

The return of Messrs. Stallworthy and Philips to Aratapu after their sojourn in Auckland in connection with the timber dispute, was quite an event, the Union representatives being taken to their homes in a carriage dragged by several enthusiastic members, who had previously taken out the horses. Messrs. Stallworthy and Philips were met at Te Ko^uru by a number of the prominent members of the Union, who accompanied them to Aratapu, where there was an organised reception. Immediately on landing Mr. T. Nield, acting as spokesman, welcomed the representatives home, and warmly congratulated them on the manner in which they had conducted the case, and the measure of success which had been achieved. He called for cheers, and these were enthusiastically given. Mr. Stallworthy briefly thanked the members for their hearty reception, and said that it was very pleasing, after the battle, to find that their efforts were warmly appreciated.
