HOSPITAL MEETING.

A meeting was held in Lawless' Club-room last evening in connection with the Hospital movement, and to elect a new committee and officers. Mr Gilmore was voted to the chair. The delegates from the Friendly Societies were also present. Mr Max. King read the report of the public meeting- held some time Back, which was confirmed. The election of officers was then proceeded with as follow:—Secretary, Mr Max D. King; treasurer, Mr H. P. Barry; chairman, the Rev. Father Brodie. The following gentlemen were elected to the committee already existing;—Drs. Grattan Guiness, and Forbes, Revs. Thos. Eykyn, J. J. Bates, C. Eaton, Olphert, Perry, and Ensign Syder, and Mr C. Saunders. Mr R. Newdick's resignation was received with regret. A letter was received from the Loyal John Leydon Lodge stating that, Messrs Locke and Katz were appointed delegates to the Hospital Committee. It was resolved that tlie ?£ acres of the proposed hospital site be applied for through the Warden's Court. The secretary was authorised to correspond with the proper authorities with a view of obtaining subsidies. Resolved, "That the Friendly Societies be asked to take steps fo^assist the committee in raising money for the hospital." The matter of a public ■demoHstrjation was Jdeferrfed till *a future date. It was decided to hold the next meeting on Thursday. 1.0.0. F., M.U., A.D. The quarterly meeting of the Loyal John Leydon Lodge, No. 7445, Waihi, was held last evening in the Foresters' Hall, there being a large attendance of brethren. The balance-sheet for the quarter showed the lodge to be in a good finnancial position. Bro. Day. Andrews was elected Noble Grand, Bro. John Glennie Vice Grand, and Bro. D. G. Saunders elective secretary. Bros. G. Morgan, R. Lewis, and D. Andrews were chosen to represent the lodge at next District Meeting. Bros. W. R. Locke and Adolf Katz were elected to act on the Waihi Hospital Committee on behalf of the lodge. The outgoing officers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for past services, and ■were recommended for their various degrees. The newlyelected officers were impressively installed by Grand Master Tt. T>wis. After the conclusion of the business the members spent a few hours harmoniously together, when songs, recitations, etc., were rendered in fine style by various brethren.
