GRAFTON V. NORTH SHORE.

(Grafton, 2 goals; North Shore, 1 goal.) Mr Geo. Robinson acted as referee in this match. Stewart and Richardson commenced operations, and the former was not long in making an opening for his attack, who, when looking very dangerous, Avere badly repulsed by Bladder and Ward. About fifteen minutes of even and interesting play followed, and then Walker, with a good shot, succeeded in beating the Shore goal-keeper. Johnstone, Eagleton, jun., and Richardson got the rubber near Grafton's goal on a couple of occasions, but good scoring opportunities were thrown away through their being inaccurate in their shooting. Kallendar a<nd Wilson cleared Grafton's lings and put Shore defending. A couple of hard shots at goal

were splendidly stopped by Eagleton. A long throw was made by Kelly, and Miller, following up fast, succeeded in sending the rubber into the net, making the scores even. A little later halftime sounded. In the next quarter both teams livened up and grafted bard to score, but without success. The last quarter sounded with no alteration in the scores. Then Grafton's attack were a long while in opposite ground, and from a loose scramble Atkinson smartly picked up and sent the winning goal into the net. Fro-m that out nothing of note occurred, and Grafton were the victors by 2 goals to 1. i NOTES. The play, though very even, was slightly in Grafton's favour. Shore's | defence played together near goal, and through this and sound cheeking by Blackler.Ward.Kelly and Eagleton their opponents were always kept fairly well at bay. Atkinson was the pick of Grafton's attack-, and was well backed by Hay and Thomson. Stewart and Luckie were always prominent at midfield, while Kallendar and Wilson were the mainstays o{ the back division.
