Alfred Fletcher Manson, four years of age, the son of Mr Manson, of Mangerc, was drowned in a tank of water on Saturday afternoon last. The other children told Mrs Manson at about four o'clock that the child was missing, and she accordingly went out to search for her son. She could not see the lad, but found his hat lying beside a water tank at the back of the house. With a garden rake Mrs Manson scraped the bottom of the tank and discovered the body of the child. He had evidently stood upon the top of the tank to swim a boat in the water, and' overbalancing hod fallen in. The matter was reported to Constable Tapp, of Onehuuga, who made arrangements for the inquest.
