AUCKLAND ARRANGEMENTS.
MARITIME COMMITTEE,
The Maritime Committee met this morning-, in the office of the secretary, Mr. R. K. Hunt, the Mayor, Dr. J. Logan Campbell, presiding. On the motion of Mr. Sliera the lion. E. Mitchelson was elected co-treasurer with Mr. C. C. Daere. vice Mr. It. Hobbs, resigned. The name of Mr. Rees George was added to the sub-commit-tee, in place of Mr. Rauson, retired. Mr. Shera explained that collectors had not yet handed in their lists, and that money was required to pay passages and to bring- down the canoes from the Waikuto. The Harbour Board had promised £25, and the Reception Committee £75, and on his motion it was decided to request those bodies to at once hand over the sump, in order that the necessary steps might be taken. The. Hon. Mitchelson expressed a doubt as to whether the canoes would come down, but Mr. Daere stated that the native in charge of the war canoe Taheretikitiki had "-one up yesterday for the purpose of bringing- it to town.
