THE CANOE DISPLAY.
The Maori canoes are to come down to-morrow from the Waikato in charge of 40 natives. Subscriptions are coming in well to defray the cost of bringing the natives down, while donations of food are also being received. Messrs R. and W. Hellaby have given half a bullock, Mr A. J. Entrican half a ton of flour and half n ton of potatoes, and Mr Johnstone, baker, of Devonport, 400 loaves.. Any surplus from the fund', is to be devoted to the funds of the Victoria School for Maori Girls.
