THE PORTFOLIO FOR THE ADDRESS.

The portfolio for the address from the citizens of Auckland, which is now; on view in the window of Mr A. Kohn, jeweller, is a beautiful piece of work. The outside cover is of solid silver, with corners of polished New Zealand gTeeiistone, on which there is .a crown, in soljd gold. On one side is engraved a nikau, and on the other a largo punga fern, each corner being relieved by a fern in solid silver. The top has the Royal standard and "New Zealand ensign, together with the arms of the City of Auckland, engraved in. a shield of New Zealand • ferns, whilst at the bottom is the inscription. An oval of inlaid New Zealand woods comprises the centre of the cover, consisting of clematis, titree, and Maori carving beautifully inlaid, the work,,, of Mr Seuffert, who has succeeded in turning out a masterpiece. In the centre of the oval is the coat of arms in silver of His Royal Highness. The back cover is of inlaid woods, the centre being a beautiful piece of kauri root nicely shaded, whilst the other woods used consist of puriri, rewarewa, totara, nlaire, and mottled kauri. Dr. Campbell, who superintended the work, and Mr A. Kohn, jeweller, who designed and manufactured the portfolio, ar© Worthy of every praise, and the public have no cause to regret having placed the matter in their hands.
