THE CITY ADDRESS.
PROTEST FROM THE CITY
COUNCIL.
At last night's meeting of the City Council Mr Stichbury moved: "That this Council considers it will be a great slight to the Mayor, Councillors and citizens of Auckland if the address to be presented to Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York be not read when presented, and request the Executive Committee for the reception to communicate with the Governor as to having the same read when presented."
In moving- the resolution Mr Stichbury said that it was an insult to Auckland that the city address should not be read, especially as Auckland was the first place at which Their Royal Highnesses would ( la.nd in New Zealand. The motion was carried unanimously.
