INADEQUATE FIRE APPLIANCES.

The Freemasons' Hall, which adjoins the Grand Hotel, did not escape without damage. The woodwork of the windows was burned right through. At one time the heat was intense inside the hall, and the roof of the upper room ,in -which the meetings are held, is all cracked in consequence.
