Drunkenness.—Five first offenders were convicted and discharged. John Joseph Caltanan was sentenced to 7 days' hard labour, and Nicholas Crawford was fined £1, in default 7 days' hard labour. Breach of the Stamp Act.—E. J. Hobbs, for whom Mr Buddie, appeared, pleaded guilty to having at Lucas' Creek signed a receipt for £3, paid by W. Chaytor, without stamping the same. A fine of £1 and costs 7/ was inflicted. Charges of Vagrancy.—Charges of vagrancy against two young women named Annie McGuire and Harriett Baker were adjourned till the 7th proximo in order to see how the accused behaved in the meantime. Alleged False Pretences.—Adolph Frederick William Reuss was -further remanded till the sth proximo on a charge of obtaining credit for £19 from John Olsen by false pretences. Mr Shera appeared for the prosecution, instructed by the Official Assignee.
