CHARLES ARNOLD SEASON.
Another splendid audience assembled at the Opera House on Saturday night, w-hen Broadhurst's farce, "Why Smith Left Home," was presented for the fourth time. The farce was greatly enjoyed by the audience, one ami all laughing heartily, at the humorous situations and smart sayings of which the piece is full. The farce will be. repeated for the last time to-night, and to-morrow J. M. Barries charming- comedy, "The Professor's Love Story," will be presented for the first, time. On Saturday afternoon and evening "Hans the Boatman" will be played, followed by "Captain Fritz" on Monday and Tuesday. "The Professors Love' Story" is an original three-act comedy by J, M. Barrie, the celebrated Scots novelist. Three of the notable characters in the piece are identified with certain of the author's creations in a "Window in Thrums." Mr E. S. Willard originally produced the comedy at the Garrick Theatre, London, and afterwards took it to America, where he secured a large fortune with it in a couple of seasons. It was failing health alone which prevented Mr Wil* lard visiting Australia. Thus Mr Arnold was enabled to secure the acting rignts of this delightful comedy. Mr Barrie, whose success as a novelist has long been assured, has also won his spurs upon the stage, "Tha Little minister" being an excellent *" example of his quaint humour great originality and skill in stagecraft. "The Professor's Love Story" will be withdrawn after Friday night, and on Saturday, we are promised a matinee and night performance of "Hans, the Boatman," so long associated with the popular actor-managers name, and without which no visit to Auckland of Mr Arnold would be complete. On Tuesday and Wednesday of next . ..'week "Captain Fritz" will be staged, and, the two performances of this eltanning musical comedy will constitute Mr Arnold's farewell appearances_in Auckland. ;":j :
