WELLINGTON CRICKET.

WELLINGTON, this day.
Fine weather prevailed here on Saturday for tlie continuation of the senior cricket fixtures, Midland v. Wellington, and Phoenix v. Old Boys. The games were much more lively than they have been of late, and some flue hitting was done. The feature of the Phoemx second innings was Clarke's score of llu, which was gamely made, and included some line strokes. Midlane also batted well and with Clarke made a flue stand, scoring 73 before being bowled by McGowan, through playing a ball on. At the call of time the score was -1 wickets for 237 runs. Old Boys' first innings concluded for 180. Douglas carried his bat for 35, batting well, and Blacklock did good work, knocking up 31. Wellington's tirst innings closed for 100, Gore (37) making top score. Hickson (34) was the next best. Midland batted well in their second innings, making 117 for 8 wickets. Hickson and Holdsworth scored 27 each. Stevenson and Wiudley were making a good stand when stumps" were drawn. Ashbolt, six wickets for 81, had the best average in either match.
