1 THE THIRD DAY'S RACING.

DUNBDIN, Saturday.

The D.J.C. had good weather for the third day of the autumn meeting. It was quite a contrast to the previous day; the weather was warm and pleasant, and the rain, which threatened late in the afternoon, hold off. The attendance was large, Bumu of the Indian troops being present, and uiso the Hon. C. 11. Mills. The racing was again Interesting, Mr Dowses handicaps furnishing some good finishes. Speculation was brisk, the sum of £0771 being put through. Tins brings the total for the meeting up to £18,387, against £16,031 hist year. The results are as follows:—

Dividend, £1 1/. Farewell Handicap of GOsovs, one mile.— Mr W. Crossan's eh g St. Denis, 7.10, 1; Hermosa, 8.7, .2; Belligerent, 5.4, 3. Also started: Nihilist, Bricken and Spider. Rounding the turn St. Denis, who had made up the ground in surprising style, was with the leaders, and down the straight caught Hermosa, and won by three parts of a length. Time, 1.46. Dividend, £5 14/. The stewards decided to hold an Inquiry Into the running of St. Denis at the meeting, and the money was looked up.
