In the case against Win. Hughes, charged with forging and uttering aud false pretences, the jury returned at three o'clock and brought, in a verdict of guilf.V on ihe charge of false pretences, but not guilty on the charge i of, forging and uttering-. His Honor I imposed a sentence oi IS months' imprisonment. ASSAULT WITH. IXTEXT TO ROB. \ in the ease of assault against .Tlowe and Barrett, both accused wore found guilty and sentenced to 18 months'j hard labour.
