ALLEGED SLY GROG SELLING.

TE AWAMUTU, this day.

11l the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr Xorthcroft, John Ormsby was convicted on a charge of being the occupier of an unlicensed house where liquor was sold. Ormsby's barmaid, Jfgapawa, was also convicted of selling liquor without a license dv the 2nd February. One charge against Ormsby, and one against Ngapawa, were dismissed. The defendant Ormsby has applied in all the charges against h:m for unlawfully selling liquor to have the same treated as indictable under the Indictable Offences Summary Jurisdie* tion Act, 1900, and this is being done. The Magistrate lias not yet stated what punishment he is going to inflict. Mr A. A. Blair appeared for1 the prosecution, and Mr A. Swarbrick for the defence
